Police Reveal Chilling ‘Manifesto’ Discovered on Luigi Mangione During Arrest for UnitedHealthcare CEO’s Murder
Luigi Mangione was apprehended at 9:15 a.m. on December 9, linked to the homicide of the 50-year-old executive, which occurred five days earlier on December 4.
Thompson, a father of two, was en route to an insurance conference in New York City when he was fatally shot outside the Hilton Hotel in Manhattan. The suspect allegedly waited for up to five minutes before committing the act.
Thompson was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition but was declared dead upon arrival.
The 26-year-old suspect reportedly fled on an electric bike, discarding a bag containing Monopoly money and a jacket in Central Park.
As reported by the New York Post, police found a handwritten note during Mangione’s arrest, expressing disdain for insurance companies prioritizing ‘immense profit’ over American customers.
The note, addressed to ‘the Feds’, allegedly stated: “The reality is, these [companies] have gotten too powerful, and they continue to abuse our country for immense profit.”
The suspect claimed he acted alone, apologizing for any trauma caused but insisted it ‘had to be done’.
“Frankly, these parasites simply had it coming,” the note read, according to sources.
Found with the note in a backpack during Mangione’s arrest at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, were a 3D-printed pistol and silencer, a loaded Glock magazine, and various fake IDs.
Dr. Carole Lieberman, speaking to The Daily Beast about the Monopoly money, suggested the suspect intended to scatter it around Thompson’s body but forgot to remove it from his backpack.
The psychiatrist interpreted the Monopoly money as a metaphor for UnitedHealthcare being a monopoly, symbolizing the company’s financial exploitation of patients.
Retired FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer commented to the publication: “To me, this seems like somebody far beyond just a personal situation, that he lost a family member or a loved one due to lack of being insured. This seems much larger, like a vigilante, somebody who is well prepared to make a big statement and that he blames UnitedHealthcare in this situation.”
